It is an optional holiday that is in the hands of the employee to take it or not. It is a paid leave, and an employee doesn’t have to take it. In general terms, Companies introduce it as RH and include leaves from festivals like Rakhi, Holi, Makar Sankranti, or Onum. Usually, employers announce the restricted holidays at the beginning of the financial year, and the number of leaves and dates are decided based on the company’s policies and regulations. Apart from public holidays, employees are eligible to take paid leave during the festivals of a specific state in which they are employed. The number of RH is mentioned in the company’s leave policy document. Now the question arises: Will this leave be carried forward? This totally depends upon the company you are working in and the policies they follow for leave and holidays. Some companies allow employees to carry the leave until the upcoming financial year, while others have employees who have to utilize the leave in the present financial year.
