It refers to the act in which the senior employee is mentored by the junior one. It is an initiative in which the older or the senior managers get trained with the junior employees to exchange skills or expertise. Currently, technical and digital skills like social media handling, content management, and many more have allowed juniors to train or mentor seniors. Jack Welch, the CEO of General Electronics, came up with the concept of reverse mentoring in 1990 when he realized that the company lacked internet knowledge and technical skills. He then asked his managers and top executive to go for a mentorship from the junior to fill the skill gap.
