An employer or recruiter may use an observation interview as a type of job interview prior to hiring a new employee or promoting an existing one. Additionally, it allows a manager or recruiter to monitor and evaluate employees. To provide the hiring manager or human resource officer with information about the candidate’s performance, the interviewer will take notes. Some employers utilize this observation interview to determine which employees are worthy of promotion, but few use it to determine whether potential candidates will meet the requirements of the position.
Observation Interview Types
- Continuous monitoring: This strategy depends on ongoing observation for a predetermined amount of time. Its primary focus is on the behavior or body language of the individual.
- Time Allocation: It allows a researcher to randomly select a location and a specific time.
