Marriage Leave: What Is It?
Paid time off given to employees to commemorate their marriage is known as marriage leave. It often lasts five to seven days, however depending on the organization’s policies, it could go longer or be unpaid.
Employees in India are entitled to up to five days of paid special vacation for marriage, as per Circular 44/74, as long as they have no more than 23 days left on their annual leave balance.
Employees are legally entitled to this leave, not merely a perk. It is regarded as exceptional leave and needs the employer’s prior consent. Organizations do, however, have the authority to call back workers for certain tasks under extraordinary conditions.
