The in-basket technique involves holding a range of concerns in an in-basket to introduce employees to their jobs. The employee has to evaluate the problems, which may involve other employees’ opinions, and engage with them all simultaneously. The worker continues to transfer the problems he resolves to the “out-basket.”
The In-Basket technique’s process
- In this process, the trainee receives information about the task to be completed, including a brief, roles, and the general meaning of the role.
- A summary of the materials in the in-basket is then provided to the learner, who has a set amount of time to respond.
- After every trainee has finished the in-basket, a discussion with the trainer occurs.
- The trainee provides an explanation of the decision-making process in this part.
- After that, the trainer offers advice, either encouraging wise choices or assisting the student in broadening their options for poor ones.
