While gender identity is not visible to others, gender expression is.
How people believe, see, and identify as male, female, a mix of the two, or neither is the essence of gender identity. An individual’s gender identification and the sex assigned to them at birth may be the same.
Gender expression and presentation
A person’s communication style and how they want the outside world to see them are related to their gender expression and presentation.
Additionally, a person might represent them by adopting various gender identities. Gender expression and presentation are influenced by a person’s names, manners, attire, and pronoun choices.
Various Gender Identity Types:
- Agender: This refers to or indicates a person who does not consider themselves to be of a specific gender.
- Androgyne: Individuals that possess both masculine and feminine traits, or a gender that falls somewhere in the middle, are called androgynes.
- Bigender: A bigender is a person who identifies as both male and female. Both male and female roles will be displayed by these individuals.
- Cisgender:People who are cisgender are those who continue to identify as that gender and accept or agree with the sex they were assigned at birth.
- Genderfluid:A person who identifies as genderfluid exhibits a gender identity and presentation that oscillates between and deviates from the gender norms of society.
- Those who reject the traditional categories of male and female are known as gender outlaws.
- People who identify as genderqueer have a gender identity or gender expression that is entirely distinct from what society often associates with their assumed gender or assigned sex.
Additionally, it describes a person who identifies as a combination of genders and is neither male nor female.
- Masculine of center: Lesbians and trans women use these terms. They conduct performances of masculine gender.
- Nonbinary: Non-binary individuals do not identify as either the male or female gender at all, nor do they identify as the gender they were assigned at birth. Additionally, nonbinary individuals may encounter overlap with different gender expressions, including gender non-conforming.
- People that exhibit elements of multiple genders in their daily lives are referred to as polygender or pangender.
- People who identify with a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth are referred to as transgender. People who identify as a gender other than male or female, such as nonbinary and genderfluid individuals, are also included in the term “transgender,” despite the fact that most people only think of trans men and trans women.
