A Challan, sometimes known as a bank challan, is a formal document, form, or sheet of paper that serves as a means of transferring funds between accounts. Similar to a deposit slip, which is used to deposit money into someone’s account by cash or an online transfer, a deposit slip requires the recipient’s information to be entered, whereas a bank challan already has it filled in. The merchant creates the bank challan with recipient and amount information already in place.
Since e-challan is an electronic format of challan, it can also be used for the same purpose. A particular format used to deposit or remit the contribution or statutory payment to a bank or treasury is also known as an e-challan.
