CEO vs COO

  • The CEO and COO both are top-level C suite executives in an organization. CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is the highest-ranking position in the company whereas COO ( Chief Operating Officer is the second-highest position and reports to the CEO directly. The CEO is the face of the company and is responsible for its success as well as any type of downfall and is responsible for making prime corporate decisions and managing the overall operations and resources of the company. The COO in an organization is responsible for overseeing business operations, day-to-day administrative and operational functions that may include marketing and sales, human resources, research and development, production, and other functions. In a few organizations, the CEO is also known by the titles such as MD (Managing Director), Chief Executive, President, etc. The COO is only called COO (Chief Operating Officer).
