A series of approvals that follow the intended hierarchy is referred to as an approval chain. When an employee requests leave in a structured organization, for instance, the procedure begins with the employee submitting the leave application, filling out the form, and having it authorized by the reporting manager. After approval, the application is reviewed by HR before being granted or denied. Because the management and HR view the employee’s leave quota from different angles, the approval levels are established. HR will examine the situation as a whole, while the manager will consider the workload as it stands.
